Glen Garioch is one of Scotland’s oldest distilleries, and its most easterly. Non chill-filtered single malt whiskies have been carefully created there in small batches since 1797. In 2009, Morrison Bowmore decided to raise the price point of this premium Highland product, requiring a step change in the brand positioning.
We conducted a series of brand workshops with key stakeholders from the distillery and supporting agencies.
We used the workshop findings to re-align the Glen Garioch brand framework and set communications principles for the production of master visuals targeting global audiences, to be further tested in consumer research.

Next, based on our research, we developed drinker profiles and created a new brand framework with associated guidelines, featuring a distinctive verbal identity that includes the local Scots dialect, a bespoke photo archive and application across all channels and mediums.
We brought all of this together in a compelling brand film, which combines great storytelling and insight into daily distillery life.
The packaging we create for Glen Garioch reflects the premium characteristics of the liquids inside, featuring carefully considered finishes and bespoke illustrations, sometimes even using the whisky for ink!
