Whitelee Visitor Centre
We refurbished the visitor centre at the UK's biggest on-shore wind farm.
We’ve completed phase 1 of the revitalisation of the visitor experience at ScottishPower's wind farm.
Since Whitelee Windfarm opened in 2009 more than 500,000 visitors have passed through the doors. More than 31,000 school pupils have taken part in interactive environmental education workshops.
The centre has been a champion for education in renewable energy with its staff specially-trained under the tutorship of the Glasgow Science Centre.
Now in its seventh year, we sought to inject new energy by creating an immersive and enjoyable digital experience for all ages.
We introduced new concepts for content and activities that will be introduced in two phases over the coming years under the themes Exploring Wind, Harnessing Wind and Powering The Future.
The first phase included a life-size interactive wind tunnel, an ambient installation made up of 150 pinwheels, a live generation feed showing ScottishPower's renewable fuel mix, an interactive world map showing live wind patterns across the globe and two VR stations giving a unique perspective of Whitelee.
