Drygate Brewing Co.

We hipped the hops with award-winning branding and packaging.

Drygate Brewing Company is the UK's first experiential craft brewery, a joint venture between The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. and Tennent Caledonian Breweries. Creating stand out through a unique and ownable story for Drygate was key to its success. The seven peaks logo was based on the brewery roof.

The logo itself was created on an isometric grid, which was carried through to the brewery, bar and restaurant visitor experience. The bespoke typography took cues from the original architectural drawings.

We created the Drygate brand positioning to embody the company's mission to break down barriers between brewers and drinkers.

We used the positioning to create a distinctive Drygate tone of voice, which has been activated on the website and across all packaging.

When it came to designing the packaging for Drygate's core range of beers, it made sense to build on the spirit of collaboration that courses through the brewery. We commissioned Glasgow School of Art alumni to create bespoke illustrations that could be used to activate the company's initial range of beers.

A similar collaborative approach was carried over to a limited edition 1st Anniversary celebratory bottling and the canned range.

We won gold awards for packaging and brand design respectively at International Beer Challenge 2015 and the Marketing Society Scotland Star Awards 2015. In 2016, the company reported a doubling of production volumes, which saw them move into the canned craft market to meet consumer demand. Drygate is now listed in supermarkets throughout the UK.
